Honoring the Legacy of Bill Leicht — Invitation to a Commemoration Session
Many of you knew, met, or were inspired by Bill Leicht — a teacher, a community builder, and a pioneer in bringing the values of aikido into social action.
Bill was the founder of Peace Dojo International, an initiative dedicated to recognizing and supporting dojos committed to peace, nonviolence, and community resilience. He also served as president of Aiki Extensions and devoted much of his life to social engagement in New York and the Bronx, using aikido as a living practice for dignity and transformation.
To honor his memory, I will be hosting an online commemoration session on December 1st, 2025.
This gathering is open to anyone who knew Bill, trained with him, or simply values aikido as a path toward peace.
During the session, I will share an interview I recorded with Bill in 2013, a conversation that reflects his depth, clarity, and humanity.
If you would like to join or share a testimony, feel free to reach out.
Let’s come together to celebrate the life and impact of someone who dedicated himself to building peace — one encounter, one dojo, one person at a time.
